The team at Northwest Women’s Center understands the complex emotional and physical shifts women face postpartum. Our team, which includes two Fellows of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, also offers non-surgical treatments, such as the O-Shot® (also called the Orgasm Shot), to restore comfort and confidence to women at every life stage.
What Is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot is a simple and quick in-office procedure that utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood. This concentration of blood cells helps to encourage healing and tissue regeneration in the vaginal region. The growth factors in PRP can increase collagen production, blood flow, and nerve sensitivity.
How the O-Shot Supports Postpartum Healing
While the O-Shot is often associated with improved sexual function, the benefits go beyond the bedroom, especially for women recovering after childbirth. Here are some of the postpartum symptoms the O-Shot may address:
- Stress urinary incontinence: Leaking urine while coughing, sneezing, or laughing is a frustrating but common complaint after childbirth. Many women report fewer accidents and better bladder control after receiving the O-Shot.
- Vaginal dryness and discomfort: Hormonal changes after delivery (especially during breastfeeding) can lead to dryness or irritation. PRP therapy can restore hydration and tissue tone.
- Decreased sexual sensation or pain during intimacy: If sex feels different or painful after having a baby, the O-Shot’s regenerative effects may increase sensitivity and comfort.
Most women find the procedure quick and well-tolerated. There’s little to no downtime, and results may appear within a few weeks. Patients also experience continued improvement over time as collagen production increases.
