What is Votiva?

istock 1144339490 If you are dealing with vaginal dryness, stress urinary incontinence, or diminished sexual satisfaction, you may be wondering who to talk to and how to address these common problems that can occur with age. Thanks to continued medical advances, women now have options to improve these concerns in a minimally invasive manner. At Northwest Women’s Center in Houston, TX, we are excited to offer vaginal rejuvenation services for patients in and around the community. We welcome patients to ask about Votiva.

What is Votiva?

Our providers describe Votiva as a specialized device that is used to tighten and tone the vaginal area to help reduce the symptoms of aging, menopause, and urinary incontinence. The Votiva system uses a vaginal device that is inserted into the vaginal canals. It administers radio frequency energy into the walls of the vagina and the outer skin to shrink the tissues and tighten the vaginal canal and skin. This, in turn, reduces skin laxity in the outer lips of the vagina while reducing the symptoms of urinary incontinence. It also addresses other vaginal issues including reduced sexual sensations and dryness that often occur with aging and menopause. The treatments are done right in the office under the care of our providers. Because it is not an invasive treatment, it can be done regularly to continually tighten and tone the vaginal wall and skin to rejuvenate the area and allow women to feel more like themselves again!

Is Votiva safe?

Radio frequency energy has been used for years in various areas of medicine, and is commonly utilized in certain treatments for the facial skin to tighten and tone, treating fine lines and wrinkles. That same concept is brought to the vaginal area with the Votiva system.
